Doctor Christine Slonetsky, ND, offers acupuncture treatments based on her training in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A key concept in TCM is that our health is influenced by the flow of energy (Chi) through pathways in the body called meridians. Imbalances of this flow of energy can result in excess or deficiency in the organs and systems of the body such as the nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, and hormonal systems. The result is impaired health. Her aim with acupuncture is to improve the health of her patients by supporting the proper flow of energy, (Chi), in the body. Dr Slonetsky uses acupuncture to address a wide range of health conditions in the body such as headaches, colds, PMS, infertility, digestive complains, chronic stress, etc).
Dr Slonetsky also uses acupuncture to address pain. According to traditional Chinese Medicine pain results from blockages in the meridian pathways. Acupuncture helps to stimulate the flow of energy through these pathways, helping to alleviate pain. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for acute and chronic back pain, sciatica, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, and plantar fasciitis.
In addition to needles, Dr Slonetsky offers alpha stim treatments for pain, insomnia and depression. Alpha stim is a type of microcurrent therapy.
Prior to commencing with acupuncture Dr Slonetsky formulates a Chinese diagnosis using the traditional methods of tongue and pulse diagnosis, and by observing signs and symptoms in the body.
For best results Dr Slonetsky combines acupuncture with nutritional recommendations, homeopathic remedies (oral and topical), herbs and supplements.
