Q?My toddlers neck makes a popping noise when he turns it. Doesn’t happen all the time, but pretty much every morning for a bit. No pain. Will this resolve or should I be concerned.
A.

Toddler’s joints and skeleton are as you know not fully formed. Their joints at this stage mainly consist of flexible cartilage that will eventually harden into bone as they age. As a result of this their joints tend to be very loose and flexible. This quality can result in more joint noise with movement. If your toddler doesn’t appear to be in any pain with movement and it doesn’t appear to limit his/her activities then it is probably nothing to worry about. It never hurts to have an examination. At our clinic we routinely do spinal check ups with children, babies and toddlers included. It’s an easy way to make sure that they are in good health and that problems aren’t starting to develop.

Q?Can Chiropractic help with Cholic Babies, Constipation, Migraines, Bed wetting, Smoking, Abdominal Pain, Low Back Pain, Ear Aches?
A.

Our Chiropractors will assess each case differently. We suggest that you come in for an assessment so the Doctor can go through a thoroughly history and exam and render an opinion and discuss with you the options available. Please know that if the Doctor feels that they are unable to help, they will be the first to let you know this and refer you to someone who can help you.

Q?Once you start going to see a chiropractor, is it true that you have to always go?
A.

At the onset of an injury, our chiropractors will assess you. Most treatment plans are 3 times per week for first 2 weeks and then the frequency decreases to 2 times per week etc. We do recommend monthly check ups, as preventative action once your treatments reduce to pre-injury status.

Q?Are your Chiropractors diversified?
A.

Yes, our chiropractors use a number of different chiropractic techniques.

Q?What do I need to do in order to have coverage for a massage?
A.

Q?What am I entitled to for extended benefits?
A.

Each plan is different and controlled by the individual companies that are insured. We do have a number of plans that patients are accessing, but if we do not have your company on file we ask that you bring in your insurance coverage book so we can add your information to our file.

Q?Do you bill directly to Extended Health Benefits?
A.

Yes, at Family Health Options we can submit all paid receipts directly to Green Shield, Manulife and Great West Life. We are happy to submit your claim for you!

Q?Do I need a referral for Chiropractic Care?
A.

Chiropractic care is not based on referrals from a Medical Doctor. In order to set up an appointment, we require some of your personal information and then the initial visit is booked.

Q?How will the thumper help me feel better?
A.

“The thumper will relax and increase blood flow into tired, achy, and knotted muscles. It also helps break up any chest congestion.”

Q?What does Ultra Sound do?
A.

“Ultrasound is a high frequency sound wave that helps to break up inflammation and scar tissue. The sound wave increases blood circulation as the body detects the heat the ultrasound generates in the system and sends blood rushing into the area. This helps naturally flush away the scar tissue and inflammation. Ultrasound promotes faster healing.”

Q?What is IFC?
A.

“IFC is Interferrential Current. IFC helps tight/spasm muscles to relax. The current is pulsed into the area numbing the nerves which makes the brain believe the pain is decreasing. This allows the brain to send back a message to the area signaling it to relax. Hence, the muscle relaxes and this allows the body to begin healing. I will place the 4 electrode pads in a crisscross pattern to surround the injured area. You will feel a “pins and needle” sensation. This sensation should never be uncomfortable and only to your tolerance. The current will cycle in waves for 5 minutes, the waves will increase to your tolerance, then decrease, and then begin again contracting and relaxing the muscle.”
